Have i understood blogging correctly??!!

hi people....its 9.30 PM in here.....was watching a movie on TV...nice movie which i have been wanting to see for a pretty long time...finally got to see it today....but the number of ads in between the movie was killing....it kills the sequence and flow and reduces half of the excitement....

i guess this is my fifth day in JU and so far, it has been a pretty nice experience in here.....of course, i have got a lot of brickbats for 2 things...one of which i deserve and another i dont....first one was for my pic....well, i guess i should have posted the much clearer pic (which i have posted now) first and this problem would not have come at all...in my excitement to get introduced and to get comfortable in this new place, i posted a pic which was not pretty clear and hence lead to all the confusion and condemnation and accusations as well...i could have easily avoided it...

second was for the type of articles that i have been posting....i find this in many places, in blogs, in discussion forums etc....i find that there are about 10-15 people who decide what the others should do and what the others should write...i agree to this if thi were a discussion forum...in a discussion forum, there is a given topic and everyone needs to stick to that topic...and if there is any deviation from the topic, of course, people can point out my mistake and get me back on track...

but do u regulate what is written on a blog as well...i mean, i never thought that there is a fixed format or a fixed topics which i am supposed to write on.....of course, there are moderators in here and i guess if something or someone goes out of hand, they would step in....but i dont understand the business of a few people stepping in to teach the newbies what to write and what not to....they might be experienced and they might be blogging from time immemorial but does that give them the license to decide on what should be written on a blog?? if blogs became restricted like this, then they might as well be called discussion forums rather than blogs....some level of control can be maintained which is the duty of the moderator....so what is the business of the others to regulate what is written in here??

there is a perfect system in here where adult articles are marked as 'only for adults' and hence not readable by others...and each article has a topic and a category which clearly specifies what is written in it.....if u dont like adult stuff, all u have to do is not read the articles marked as 'for adults' or look at the topic and category and skip it if u dont like it....are these not indicative enough and are these not enough regulation?? so why do others step into the blogs of newbies and determine what they should write??

i look around JU and find that many articles are on politics and that too american...dont u people think u need variety?? there are various people from various countries coming in here....how many would be interested in american politics?? so those who are not interested in that (like me) will start writing new topics like what i had written....and if people step in and decide what these newbies should write, then all the blogs would be only abt politics and art....

anyway, thats what i feel abt all this....i am going to sleep now....just watch some TV and go and sleep....my room mate also wants to talk to me abt something important with regard to her BF....so will have to listen to her...good night people....catch u tomorrow....

Understand this: when you blog you have two choices. You can post just to your blog, or you can post to your blog and the JU forums. You don't have to do both. There's a checkbox that assures you that your article won't be on the forums.

Nobody can tell you what you can or can't right but the moderators. If you catch flack for stuff on the forums, well, that's just the neighborhood.

Cheers.

I don't care what you write, mate, so long as you mark it carefully. If it's taboo stuff, or stuff you know are going to offend lots of people, I suggest you not put it in the forums. If you are gonna post something, be prepared for varied responses some of which will not be to your likings. That's true for anything you post - adult stuff or not.

agreed people....not appropriate stuff, i will try not to post in the forums....

Oh I wouldn't mind about posting such stuff in the forums so long as you post it in the appropiate forum and mark it as adult content. Maybe put in an initial warning line in the article as well.

You certainly shouldn't worry about what others thing of your blog. Blogging is personal and it's your own space. So long as you respect the posting rules (which includes the one about imitating others which there was some accusation about) then you should be free to post whatever you want. I definitely would not rate it as inappropriate. Admittedly there are far more other things I would like to hear about. But it's not my article!

you know what? contreversy rules! it gets a little heavy at times but that's usually what gets you to the top. believe me about this one... writting for the man sucks. I can't stand writting about politics or really anything relevent about anything at all.

oh, and I could almost be considered one of the guys who have been here for forever. I've officially outlasted almost everyone who was here before me and a lot of people that came post-newbieism.

as long as you enjoy what you're writing about you should be fine.

Capt. over and out!
