Help please

Help with setting up

Hi,
can someone tell me how i can post a pic somewhere on my home page so that it can viewed permanently...like i saw a few blogs in here where the pic of the person is put on the bar on the right or the left...i want to do something like that....cos i posted my pic in an article and as i post more and more articles, it keep going down and down and finally i guess it will be moved out of my home page...so someone pls help...dont know whether this is fit to be put in as an article but anyway......
